Shock Radio Coverage of Frolicon / Littles

Sunday, May 8th, 2011

Over Easter Weekend a group of Atlanta shock jocks sent an undercover “reporter” into the annual geek/kink event known as Frolicon. On Monday morning, during the morning show, they derided the event and the attendees of Frolicon by reading and commenting on the class list, having reporter describe his experience in the classes, calling out the littles and furries activities specifically, playing a secret recording of the Littles Story Time, and pointing listeners to a Facebook page with pictures. One of these pictures was of an age player at the con with her face half-covered by a coloring book. The commentary was typically mean, focused on sex, called littles a substitute for pedophilia, and made fun of the weight/size of the attendees.

Fortunately the Frolicon lawyers stepped in right away and with the help of others had the photos taken down from Facebook. However the audio remains. This show did a similar piece about an Atlanta con called Furry Weekend Atlanta just a few weeks prior.

Because shows like this thrive on the attention they receive by creating this shock content, I have chosen not to post any links to it nor to even  name of the show. If you wish to learn more about how to access it you may email me directly: spacey@theghidrah.com

This show may anger you as it did me. However, I want to urge you not to contact the show’s producers, offer to go on the air, nor do anything that puts our response to this on their terms. They have already demonstrated that they are in this for ratings through denigrating others. They clearly aren’t interested in journalism nor multiple perspectives. It’s a show about sensationalism and any attempt to approach them only legitimizes them and gives them more fuel. If you’ve been thinking about this, PLEASE DON’T!

After talking about this incident with a few regular munch attendees and leaders, we have agreed on taking the following actions:

1. We have a description and picture of the person that made the undercover recordings and pictures. He will not be welcome to attend this munch.

2. We are working with the munch location to request they eject anyone we indicate are causing us trouble.

3. We are calling attention to our current photography/video/recording policy: there is to be no photographic, audio, or video recording at a munch without the express consent of everyone included in the recording. Anyone caught doing this and failing to delete the recording when requested will be ejected from the munch or play party. Please keep your eyes open for this.

One important thing we are NOT doing is going into hiding. We may act young. but we are grown adults, capable of taking care of our own. We will not cower in the face of bullies looking to get their “yuks” and “lulz.”

If you have any questions or concerns about this, please feel free to me contact at the email address I gave above.

What’s in the Munch Box?

Sunday, November 28th, 2010

I’m frequently asked what the munch is like. I like to tell them “It’s Wonderful!” Accurate though that answer might be, I can understand why folks might feel it to be an insufficient reply.

It would take a really long time to talk about all the things I think make the munch wonderful. Instead, I’ll try to bite off a little piece of that question by showing you some of what goes into the munch. In this case, the Munch Box. It’s a box that goes to every munch and has stuff that helps us create our festive munch atmosphere.

Below is a little video I made to show and tell you all about it:

2010 November Munch Recap

Friday, November 26th, 2010

Thanks to all the great folks that turned out last Saturday we had another great Littles Munch with a new record, some amazing art work, and lots of conversation and hugs. We had about 30 people come including a few new faces and some that hadn’t visited in a long time.

The record we set this time is going to be a really tough one to beat. It was previously held my a munch attendee that travelled all the way from Hawaii. This time though, the record to beat for the furthest distance travelled to attend the munch is all the way from Singapore. Since that’s pretty much on the other side of the planet from the munch, the next person to beat it is going to have to visit from another planet. :)

As often happens, we had some amazing artist among the munch goers this month. One of them decided to share his skill by making some line drawings for a few of us. For me, he drew a a great picture of my little girl side. I scanned it and colored it in:

Tavi's drawing of Angelica made at the Atlanta Littles Munch

Drawing of Angelica

I know at least two other folks got a drawing too.

After the munch, a few of us headed back to Mommy’s and my place to play video games and card games. Mario Party on the Wii seemed the most popular. Everyone had fun playing and and cheering.

October Munch

Monday, October 18th, 2010

I want to thank everyone who came out to the Little’s munch this past weekend.  We had relatively a small crowd of about 8 but we still had the bests time ever. We were suppose to go to the zoo but then there was talk of watching a parade. In the end though,  a few people ended up staying around the diner to play flux and hello kitty uno.

I’m looking forward to our next munch which will be November 20th at 1:30 PM at the Atlanta Diner.

Huggles and snuggles for all.

September Munch

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

We had a great crowd with us on our monthly much in September. I think we had a total of 20 with us. There were so many that I forgot to count . We had  alot of laughs and great talk amongst old and new friends. Afterwords we had planned a field trip to the park, but that got postponed because there was hardly anyone left to go with us and it was kinda hot outside.  So, Lady Mae, spacey and I drove to Perimeter mall and saw Alpha and Omega. It was a good movie but not overly spectacular.  We hope to see everyone out and about next month October 16th, 130 PM at the Atlanta Diner.

Huggles and Pounces for all,

angelic_lynne

You know it was a great party when

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

You find a pair of underwear left behind that doesn’t belong to you or your wife. Now, at some parties this would probably suggest something rather illicit. At the Atlanta Littles Munch Summer Tiki Play Party, though, it more likely suggests that some came to the party in grown-up undies and left wearing much more padded and protective undergarments. Especially since the undies were found in the room set aside for changing.

That’s exactly the kind of thing I hope for when Mommy and I host a littles party. That someone can get so wrapped up in all the fun that’s going on around them, that they forget what kind of undies they had on when they got here. To me, that nicely sums up the great time that I and others seemed to be having.

Many of the parties we’ve hosted in the past have started after the munch that month. This time, though, Mommy made plans so that we could have an all-day immersive event. We had lots and lots of activities planned throughout the day and into the night. It kicked off with yummy grilled food and moved into Wii games, card games, water balloons, water guns, wiggly worm sprinkler, more yummy food, guitar hero, arts and crafts, play tattoos, birthday ice cream cake, a magic show with a real magic bunny, glow sticks, movies, popcorn and goodie bags. Whew!

Of course, all that is just the stuff. What really made the party great was all the wonderful people: Littles, middles, and bigs from across the spectrum of age players all coming together and celebrating this wonderful common interest we all have. Talk about a hug fest! In total I count 27 people who made it out for some part of the event. It was so many people on such a hot summer day that our air conditioner actually had trouble keeping up.

Speaking of hot, I want to especially thank all the wonderful folks that stepped up and helped keep the party running smoothly. One, very brave volunteer, actually manned the grill in this outrageous heat. Twice! How awesome is that? Others were kind enough to keep the snacks and food in order, sweep the house for trash, and wash the cups and plates so we could keep using them all night. I’m sure that’s just scratching the surface. To all those volunteers, THANK YOU!

If you missed out on this party, well, I’m sorry. It was super terrifically wonderfully great! But don’t be too sad, because the next event is already in the works.

Join us on Saturday, October 30th for the first Atlanta Littles Munch Halloween Sleepover. This time it’s costumes, and jammies, and creepy kids movies like Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline all night long. Mark your calendars now. (Really, like right now.)

Thanks again to everyone that came out and made this party, as well as the age play community here in Atlanta, so great. Thanks too to those of you that came from out of town to be a part of it. I look for forward to seeing you again and reminiscing at a future munch. Also, for one of you, I look forward to returning your underwear.

More Littles Munch Summer Tiki Party Plans

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Just a few more sleeps till party time!

Some have already written to me for directions and I’ll be getting those out soon. For those that haven’t, please write to me if you need directions or just want to give me a heads up that you’re coming.  (Remember, the hosts must know you from a munch in order to attend.)

What to bring:
* Yourself (everything else is really optional)
* A bathing suit and water toys (such as water guns)
* An outfit for the fashion show
* Food to share. Especially any favorite items you’d like cooked on the grill.
* Requested $5 donation.
* Any movies and/or card, board, and video games you’d like to share.
* Any items you have for the Littles Exchange (stuffies or clothes that need a new home)

Here’s the tentative itinerary (Subject to change based on weather, party dynamics, and the whims of your hosts. :)

1:00 pm
Things get started. We’ll get the grill fired up and start making lunch.

We’ll also get things started with the Littles Exchange. This is a chance for you to bring in and trade your age play items that might be able to find a new, loving home. Bring you’re littles clothes that don’t fit right anymore or that stuffed friend that’s looking for new adventures.

2:00 pm -ish
It’s time for back yard water fun (Balloons, water guns, sprinklers etc). We’ll also be snacking and eating all that yummy stuff from the grill.

We’ll also be playing games in the house. Video game, card games, hoola hoops and pin the tail.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a littles party if we didn’t have crafts too. Look for coloring books, crayons, and construction paper to show off that creative side.

6:30 pm
Fashion Show – Break out that stylin’ onsie or sailor dress and show off your best looks. Prizes in multiple categories as determined by the judges.

7:00 pm
Dinner

8:00 PM
Magic Show – You aren’t going to want to miss this. We’ve got a great performer and friend coming out to give us a show.

After the show, we’ll celebrate some birthdays and unbirthdays with a little cake. Yummy!

9:00 PM on
Movies and Jammies (With glow sticks). We’ll start with Lilo and Stitch and then move on to whatever folks decide they want to watch.

So, with all that, there are a few things we could use some help with from you:

We don’t really own any outdoor furniture. We could use some tables and chair for food and people out in the back yard and patio.

We’ll need judges for various games and events, including the fashion show.

We also need some cooking help. We’ve got a volunteer for the grill, but it would be nice to have someone looking after the food inside as well.

So that’s it. Is anyone excited yet?
